Milum Services Limited is a leading provider of transport, logistics, and other mining support services across Papua New Guinea. We're seeking an experienced OHSE&T Manager to lead our Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental & Training programs and ensure a zero-harm workplace and sustained growth across all Milum operations.
The incumbent will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety and training systems across our Transport, Maintenance, Technical Services, Manpower and Support Services. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll drive Values based performance improvement with constructive engagement, alignments to standards and sustained growth.
Responsibilities
- Constructive and proactive Leadership of the OHSE & Training deliverables across Milum
- Coach and Mentor our OHSE&T team with sustainability at its core
- Milum remains committed to being the best Landowner business across Papua New Guinea and this role is a key position withing this vision
- Develop, implement, track and review OHSE&T policies and programs
- Lead incident investigations (ICAMs), root cause analysis, and corrective action follow-up. Critical to this aspect of the role is the coaching & mentoring of OHSE&T team members and broader Milum leaders
- Manage safety training, inductions, and toolbox talks for respective department staff and contractors
- Maintain OHSE records and generate compliance reports in the Client's SMS and Milum Safety Management System (SMS)
- Liaise and collaborate with regulatory bodies, clients, and contractors on Safety & Training matters
- Monitor lead and lag KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Must Have
- Diploma or Degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety will also be considered
- Trainer & Assessor qualification and/or experience
- ICAM Facilitators and broad experience in Incident Investigation
- Minimum 8 years' experience in OHSE and Training Management roles (preferably in transport, logistics, or mining industries).
- Excellent communication skills - able to influence and train and all levels
- Strong leadership, planning and team management capabilities
- Strong knowledge of PNG Occupational Health and Safety Act, Mining Safety Act and relevant AS/NZ Standards applicable to transport, logistics or mining
- Current driver's license and willingness to travel to project job sites
Nice to have
- Analytical mindset for risk assessment and incident investigation
- Confident in preparing reports, presentations, and compliance documentation
- Related industry experience is also considered
