POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking Tyre Fitter - Linehaul Road Transport Equipment Maintenance to join our team in Tabubil, Western province. 

The Tyre Fitter is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and replacement of Tyres on heavy road transport vehicles such as prime movers, fuel tankers / trailers, and support vehicles used in haulage operations.  This role ensures vehicles remain roadworthy, safe, and operational in compliance with mine site standards, road transport regulations, and company policies.


Key Responsibilities - Tyre Maintenance & Fitting

  • Remove, replace, rotate, and repair Tyres in heavy vehicles (e.g. Volvo, Kenworth, prime movers, fuel tankers, trailers and light vehicles). 
  • Inspect Tyres for wear, damage, air pressure, and tread depth using appropriate tooling
  • Fit and balance new Tyres, including tubeless and multi-piece rim assemblies
  • Maintain Tyre pressures and monitor Tyre condition to prevent downtime and extend Tyre life 
  • Respond to Tyre breakdowns on highway and perform roadside Tyre replacements with service trucks
  • Maintain Tyre service truck tools, jacks, air compressors, inflation cages, and torque wrenches.
  • Ensure safe working practices when working in remote or high-risk environments

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in Tyre fitting for heavy vehicles in road transport, mining, or construction environments
  • Competent in using pneumatic tools, Tyre changes, and torque tools
  • Ability to work independently in remote locations under time pressure.

  • Qualifications & Experience

  • Certificate in Tyre Fitting (or equivalent trade qualifications)
  • PNG driver license (preferred) but not essential
  • Experience working with Tyre Dealerships such as Bridgestone and Dunlop
  • Minimum Grade 10 /Grade 12 school certificates
