Transport Superintendent (FIFO-Loadmaster)

The purpose of this role is to plan, coordinate, and monitor logistics operations in Kiunga and Tabubil for safe, accurate, and timely receiving, checking, and dispatching of the convoy with all OTML and Client’s materials and equipment to and from Kiunga Wharf to Tabubil vice versa daily. This role is critical to maintaining OTML’s logistics supply chain by transporting of the materials and equipment safely on the Linehaul Trucks from Kiunga to Tabubil and vice versa as and when required. 

You will ensure that all cargoes are compliant, accounted for, and loaded onto Milum linehaul convoy trucks safely and accurately according to specifications and requirements, for each daily convoys for delivery to/from Tabubil and Kiunga without delay, damage, or safety incidents.


You will be responsible for ensuring all safety controlling factors that minimise risks are adhered to daily by coordinating accurate and timely receiving, checking and dispatching of all OTML and/or other client’s materials and equipment from Kiunga to Tabubil and return. The linehaul trucks for each convoy run daily must comply with all loading requirements, safety standard and systems to ensure safe delivery of the materials and equipment to its approved destination.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the safe and efficient receiving, loading, dispatch, and delivery of cargo
  • Plan and oversee daily cargo movements, ensuring compliance with transport, safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain accurate cargo documentation, manifests, reconciliations, and operational records.
  • Liaise with logistics providers, customers, and key stakeholders to ensure timely cargo delivery
  • Monitor operational performance, investigate discrepancies and incidents, and provide regular reports to management.

Must Have

  • Diploma, Trade Certificate, or Tertiary qualifications in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum relevant experience in transport, logistics, cargo handling, wharf, or warehouse operations.
  • Sound knowledge of cargo planning, documentation, and load restraint, dangerous goods (DG), and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
  • Valid driver's license with experience operating light vehicles and/or heavy mobile equipment; relevant certifications in load restraint, container loading, or DG handling will be highly regarded.
