POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Tradesman Heavy Equipment Fitter / Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out inspections, servicing, fault diagnosis, and repairs on a diverse fleet including linehaul road transport equipment (prime movers, trailers), light vehicles, buses, and ancillary equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation in compliance with mine site standards, road transport regulations, and company policies
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on Volvo and Kenworth prime mover trucks, light vehicles, passenger transport buses, ancillary equipment (e.g. excavators, loaders etc.)
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical faults and carry out repairs
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and complete service reports
- Ensure all work is carried out to OEM and company standards and maintain accurate records
- Follow all safety procedures, permit systems, and isolation procedures
- Respond to breakdowns and provide field support when required
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a clean and safe work environment
Skills & Qualifications
- Trade Certificate in Heavy Equipment Fitting / Vehicle Mechanics
- Minimum 3 years of post-trade experience working with heavy road transport or mobile fleet
- Sound knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems and ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics
- Familiarity with fault diagnostic tools and maintenance software
- Strong safety focus
- PNG Driver's license (desirable)
